Supported Services Specialist

Reports to:  Habilitation Manager and Supported Living Assistant Manager

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

Summary

This is a valuable position on the Supported Services team that is primarily responsible for the assistance, supervision, and monitoring of individuals. Serves a role in implementing program plans, promoting independence, personal growth, community integration, and enhancing the quality of life for the individuals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety of individuals
  • Assist individuals with daily needs
  • Provide opportunities to learn new skills and strengthen skills already learned
  • Implement habilitation and behavior programs
  • Assist and monitor the dispensing and recording of medications
  • Assist individuals with the maintenance of personal finances
  • Assist individuals with integrating into the community
  • Provide for transportation of individuals as needed
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding individuals to Habilitation Manager or Supported Living Assistant Manager
  • Participate in continuing education
Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year’s experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Interpersonal skills including an ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of individual’s information
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance when transporting individuals
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain detailed records
  • Ability to physically transfer individuals, bend, stoop and reach
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping and personal grooming habits
  • Ability to pass Medication Administration curriculum and New Employee Orientation
  • Ability to follow plans that address an individual’s needs
  • Not convicted of an abuse, neglect, or position relevant felony
