Summary

The successful contractor will travel between multiple residential sites in the area to ensure all nutrition services align with the Indiana Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services (BDDS) regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Multi-Site Routine Travel: Routinely travel to 8 group home locations to conduct on-site facility kitchen audits, observe mealtime textures, and perform face-to-face resident clinical evaluations.
  • Menu Sign-Off & Verification: Review, customize, and formally sign off on the facility’s master menus to guarantee compliance with Indiana Administrative Code 410 IAC 16.2.
  • Structural Substitutions: Provide timely, documented approval for structural or dietary food substitutions to maintain nutrient thresholds when items are out of stock.
  • Clinical Assessments & Diet Orders: Evaluate resident nutritional statuses—focusing heavily on individuals experiencing unplanned clinical weight loss—and coordinate directly with attending physicians to secure formal, written therapeutic diet orders.
  • Dysphagia & Swallowing Safety: Design and monitor modified texture plans (e.g., pureed, mechanical soft) utilizing the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework to mitigate choking risks.
  • Person-Centered Planning: Collaborate with the team to align nutritional strategies and adaptive dining equipment (e.g., weighted utensils, plate guards) with each individual’s Person-Centered Individualized Support Plan (PCISP).
  • Staff Consultation: Advise facility management on Direct Support Professional (DSP) training protocols regarding specialized dietary, behavioral eating, and safety interventions.
Qualifications

-National Credential: Active registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

-State Licensure: Active, unencumbered Licensed Dietitian (LD) credential issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (PLA).

-Must successfully pass a mandatory state and federal criminal background check and sex offender registry screening.
