I am a Behavior Specialist for individuals living in supported services and for individuals living at home with their families. An initial functional assessment is completed to identify the function of the individual’s problematic behavior. Those observations are used to create a behavior support plan (intervention) to be used for staff, caregivers and family members to help reduce problematic behavior and increase skills.
People with disabilities have the same needs we all do: first and foremost among them is to be treated with dignity and respect. When you interact with people with disabilities, focus on their abilities, not their disabilities.
Before working at In-Pact, I received my Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Criminal Justice. After graduation, I worked for a local township as a Township Investigator, assisting individuals with rent, utilities, and groceries. While working full-time, I returned to Indiana University to obtain my Master’s degree in Social Work and interned at an agency servicing individuals with intellectual disabilities.
I grew up Merrillville, Indiana. I am now able to help service the community and surrounding communities I grew up in.
