TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST (Van Driver)

Summary

• Ensure the health and safety of our individuals
• Transport developmentally disabled individuals
• Provide supervision to individuals while in transport
• Implement all relevant behavior plans
• Follow all relevant traffic laws and rules of the road
• Maintain a safe driving record at all times
• Provide all basic preventative maintenance
• Provide on-call back up to other drivers in case of illness or vacation
• Follow a set schedule in a timely manner to ensure promptness of service
• Participate in all relevant training and in-services
• Other duties as requested

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ability to read documents and written instructions
Ability to write and maintain accurate records
Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and transport individuals

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• One year’s experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
• HCSP Certification
• VALID driver’s license and favorable driving record
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No felony convictions
• No convictions of abuse or neglect

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport individuals Ability to physically transfer individual(s), bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the work shift Ability to respond promptly in emergency situations
